“At the age of fourteen, Catalina associated the prosperity of the girls in her neighborhood with the size of their boobs. So those who had small tits like her had to resign themselves to living in poverty. That’s why she set as her only goal in life to get, at any price, the money for a pair of silicone implants, unable to fit in the open hands of any man. But she never thought that, contrary to what she believed, her dreamt prosthesis would not become the heaven of her happiness, but her personal tragedy and her hell…”.
Excerpt from the book ‘Sin tetas no hay paraíso’ by the Colombian writer Gustavo Bolívar Moreno, which exposes a reality that surpasses fiction where many teenagers prefer a breast augmentation operation rather than the longed-for party as a 15th birthday present.
The breasts, boobs, tetas, bubis, puchecas or whatever you want to call them, are a part of the women’s body that makes them very special regardless of their size, shape or color. Besides, they allow nutrition for their children during breastfeeding. Not to mention that they are a high source of sexual pleasure and eroticism.
That’s why today, based on research and expert consultation, I am going to tell you #sinrecato about some characteristics of boobs:
Size: the left breast is larger than the right one, which does not mean that there is an abnormality, it is part of the anatomical design of all women.
Pleasure: the breasts are one of the most sensitive parts of the body. In addition, it is one of the most stimulating erogenous zones to generate pleasure, both in men and women. According to studies, 1% of women can reach orgasm just by stimulating the boobs and nipples.
Weight: the weight of the breasts varies according to the size of the woman. But studies have established that on average a breast can weigh about 0.5 kg.
Implants: although breast augmentation surgery remains one of the most performed cosmetic procedures in the world, a research from Laval University in Quebec (Canada) also reveals that the suicide rate is 73 percent higher in women with implants. A contradictory situation when it is supposed to improve self-esteem and security. However, depression, low self-esteem, not obtaining the expected results, receiving social criticism are factors related to this problem.
Breastfeeding: there is no relationship between the boobs size and its milk production. Larger boobs only have more adipose tissue, they are not related to quantity.
Menstrual cycle: it is normal for breasts to be larger (increased progesterone and prolactin) in the days before menstruation. After menstruation, they feel somewhat light. But during ovulation, they look prettier due to collagen production.
Nipples: there are several kinds; the most common is the one that protrudes from the areola, there is also the inverted and the flat one that is only seen at the moment of arousal or when there is a change in temperature.
Composition: during adolescence and young adulthood, breasts are composed of mammary glands, fat and collagen, which makes them firm. Some women who gain weight may also notice an increase in their boobs’ size.
Abnormalities: the supernumerary nipple is an extra nipple that does not produce any serious symptoms. It is noticed during puberty, menstruation or pregnancy.
Gravity: the boobs’ skin is one of the most sensitive and delicate in a woman’s body. Because they are not attached to any muscles, but remain suspended and held by the skin that runs from the chin to the base of the breast.
Women’s breasts appear from the onset of puberty until the day they die, becoming an outstanding feature of their femininity. Unlike the rest of mammals, which only develop to feed their babies.
The biggest threat to them is breast cancer. Today, painfully, it is one of the main causes of female death in the world and, despite advances, self-examination and mammography are still the main methods of prevention at an early stage.
