Although I usually write about sexuality. Today I want to honor love; that powerful feeling that makes human beings find the meaning of life. Because when you are in love everything can seem easy; but when that love is not reciprocated, it turns into something difficult and frustrating.
Can you imagine if you could know the day, time, place and year when you will meet the love of your life?; probably we would surely wait for that moment to come, when, by magic, the universe would conspire and the stars would align.
But this is not the case; the reality is that some people find their special someone and yet nothing happens. Because there is distance in between, because they decide too late, because it is not reciprocated and blah, blah, blah.
The question #sinrecato is: Would you wait for the love of your life? Surely, the stakes will be divided and some will be able to identify themselves after knowing this story. That is why today I am going to talk to you about a couple that after 17 years, of ‘comings and goings’, are finally enjoying their love and although it wasn’t easy, they feel it was worth it.
Felipe and Cristina met at school. It was 2003, they both were 15 years old. At that time Felipe was very shy and was never able to confess to her; she was very outgoing, cheerful and friendly and never confessed to him either, but she did flirt with him.
After graduation, Felipe took courage and called her to surprise her, to express his repressed love; but the surprise was for him when he was told that she was not there. “I was deluded into thinking she was in a shopping mall and it turns out she was in Switzerland,” he said.
Cristina came back to Colombia. She started college and reunited with Felipe. She told him about her trip, about the experience in another country and that she had had a heartbreak. Our beau thought that now they could be lovers, but she clearly told him that she did not want anything serious. He accepted the conditions, although he did want a serious relationship. But it did not last long and they split up again.
Felipe met another young woman who wanted a formal relationship. Cristina started texting him thinking he was single and when he told her that he had a girlfriend, she got upset, insulted him and of course blocked him from all social networks, she commented jokingly.
Felipe ended the relationship he had and tried again with Cristina, but it did not work out. So, from then on, he dedicated himself to enjoying his bachelorhood.
Several years passed and Cristina, on a trip with some friends to Miami, met ‘someone’. Everything had happened very quickly. They had met in March and the wedding plans were for December.
Cristina says that she traveled to the United States in June with her mother and sister so that they could meet her future husband. And it turns out that “Prince Charming” was always busy and there was little time to go out with her.
One afternoon she went out and saw him acting way too friendly with another woman. He did not know what to say and she knew what to do: she packed up and came back to Colombia.
Felipe heard about Cristina’s return and could not deny that he was happy. And although it seemed that there were no impediments to being together, something came back to bite them. This time, she had to go back to Switzerland, because she had a job opportunity. So Cristina told Felipe what he was so looking forward to hearing: “Would you leave with me?
“At that moment I told her that in Switzerland or even the moon I was going to follow her to be together. So we started living together in 2019 and on February 13, 2020 before the quarantine, we officially became husband and wife,” says the ‘eternal lover’.
Felipe says it with emotion: “I am here for love. Our history is quite strange, but I do not regret anything; I am with her and we are together. When two people are destined to be together many things can happen, but at the end they will overcome those obstacles as a team”.
